AI hackathons (2026)

AI hackathons ask you to build something useful with machine learning, large language models or AI agents in a short time: a model that beats a leaderboard, a GenAI app, or an agent that completes real tasks.

Each listing shows the problem statements, the prize pool and whether you need to train a model or build an app on top of existing APIs. Looking for ideas? See hackathon project ideas and problem statements.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to know for an AI hackathon?

For app-style AI hackathons, Python or JavaScript and an LLM API are enough. For ML competitions you should be comfortable with pandas, scikit-learn or PyTorch, and evaluating a model on a validation set.

Can I use ChatGPT, Claude or other AI tools?

Most AI hackathons allow AI coding assistants and APIs; some restrict pre-built solutions. The rules tab on each hackathon page says what is allowed.

Do I have to pay to register on Hack4Hack?

No. A Hack4Hack account is free, and most hackathons are free to enter. When an organizer charges a fee, it is shown on the hackathon page before you register.
